Floating Lid Tank
Floating Lid Tank
The Letina Floating Lid Tank is a variable capacity vessel designed specifically for hobbyists and craft amateurs. Built from durable, premium-grade stainless steel, this tank offers the ultimate flexibility in storage volume at an entry-level price point.
Instead of complex pumps and inflatable bladders, this version achieves a 100% fail-proof, airtight seal by applying a small amount of food-grade oenological oil around the edge of the floating lid. This completely isolates your liquid from oxygen without any manual maintenance. By utilizing a slightly thinner steel coat than our heavy-duty commercial lines, we are able to offer this high-quality vessel at a highly affordable price.
Fail-Proof Oxygen Barrier: The liquid oil seal never loses pressure or leaks air, providing total peace of mind for long-term storage.
Variable Capacity Flexibility: The floating lid scales to whatever volume you have stored, eliminating damaging headspace.
Highly Affordable: With a thinner coat thickness than our commercial tanks and no complex lifting arms or pumps required, it is our most budget-friendly tank.

Frequently Asked Questions
How exactly does the oil seal work on this floating lid?
It is a traditional and highly effective winemaking trick! The floating lid is slightly smaller than the diameter of the tank. Once you drop the lid onto the surface of your wine, you pour a small amount of food-safe enological paraffin oil into the gap between the lid and the tank wall. Because oil is lighter than wine, it floats perfectly on top, creating a 100% physical barrier that locks oxygen out.
Will the oil mix with my wine or change the taste?
Not at all. We use a heavy, tasteless, and odorless food-grade paraffin oil. Because oil and water (wine) do not mix, it sits innocently on top. When it is time to bottle or transfer your wine, you simply draw the liquid from the bottom valve. The oil stays floating at the top and never mixes with your finished product.
Why choose this over a tank with an inflatable gasket?
Pure simplicity and reliability. Tanks with inflatable gaskets are fantastic, but rubber bladders can slowly lose air pressure over several months if you aren’t checking on them. An oil seal never loses pressure, requires zero maintenance once applied, and cannot fail. It is the ultimate “set it and forget it” solution for bulk storage.
