Olive Oil Storage Tank
Olive Oil Storage Tank
Our professional-grade storage tanks are engineered specifically for the bulk storage of olive oil, pumpkin seed oil, and high-value vegetable oils. Because edible oils are highly susceptible to oxidation, these tanks incorporate specialized features to extend shelf life and maintain organoleptic quality.
Oxidation Prevention: Equipped with a dedicated inert gas fitting for nitrogen blanketing. Displacing oxygen with nitrogen is the industry standard for preventing rancidity in bulk oil storage.
Sediment Management: The conical bottom design allows for the efficient purging of water and organic particulates that settle after pressing, ensuring a clean final product.
Light & UV Barrier: Unlike IBC totes or glass, our AISI 304 stainless steel construction is 100% opaque, providing a total UV shield to prevent light-induced degradation.
Racking & Decanting: Integrated precision racking valves allow for the drawing of clear oil from above the sediment line, simplifying the bottling and filtration process.
Multi-Oil Versatility: While optimized for the olive oil industry, the non-porous, food-grade interior is ideal for pumpkin seed oil, sunflower oil, and specialty nut oils.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do stainless steel tanks extend the shelf life of olive oil?
Shelf life is determined by four factors: air, light, heat, and moisture. Our tanks eliminate light exposure and use nitrogen gas fittings to remove oxygen (air) from the headspace. This technical setup stops the oxidation process, preserving the oil’s polyphenols and fresh flavor for much longer than traditional storage methods.
What is the benefit of a conical bottom for pumpkin seed oil?
High-density oils like pumpkin seed oil often contain fine sediments. The conical bottom concentrates these solids at the lowest point of the tank. This allows producers to “purge” or bleed off the sediment through the bottom valve without disturbing the rest of the batch, reducing the need for heavy filtration.
Can I use the same tank for different types of edible oils?
Yes. AISI 304/316 stainless steel is non-absorbent and odorless. Unlike plastic containers, it does not retain the “memory” of previous flavors or fragrances. After a standard cleaning and degreasing cycle, the tank is ready for a different oil variety with zero risk of cross-contamination.
Why is nitrogen blanketing necessary for bulk oil storage?
Even in a sealed tank, the “headspace” (the empty gap between the oil and the lid) contains oxygen. Nitrogen blanketing replaces that oxygen with an inert gas. For commercial producers, this is a critical step to meet quality standards and prevent the oil from becoming rancid during seasonal storage.
Are these tanks compatible with industrial bottling lines?
Yes. The standardized valves and fittings are designed for seamless integration with commercial bottling equipment and transfer pumps. The elevated leg design also provides enough clearance for easy hose attachments and floor hygiene.
