Mixing Tank
Mixing Tank
The Letina Mixing Tank is a versatile, mobile process vessel engineered to mix, agitate, or gently stir your products. Designed primarily for the wine, food, and beverage industries, this tank combines robust mechanical engineering with seamless mobility.
Eliminate Vortexing: Every tank features a built-in flow breaker and a high-efficiency agitator to guarantee complete, uniform mixing.
Effortless Loading: A standard folding cover makes charging and adding ingredients fast and safe.
GMP Food-Grade Options: For highly regulated environments, we build specialized vessels following strict GMP guidelines for high-level hygiene. Discover more on our Food and Beverage Industry landing page.
Handle High-Viscosity: We can equip your tank with specialized scraped-surface agitators to process dense materials without burning or sticking.
Integrated Agitator: Tailored to your specific product viscosity for reliable stirring, blending, or high-shear agitation.
Convenient Folding Cover: The lid folds outward for easy ingredient loading and top-down access.
Custom Engineering: From variable speed controls and specialized impellers to jacketed temperature control.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the purpose of the built-in flow breaker?
When an agitator spins, the liquid naturally wants to swirl in a circle, creating a funnel (vortex) in the middle. This circular motion is highly inefficient for mixing. The flow breaker is a vertical baffle that stops this circular swirl and forces the liquid to fold over itself. This creates the turbulent, top-to-bottom flow needed to efficiently mix powders or blend liquids together.
Do you offer different types of agitators and impellers?
Yes. We understand that mixing a thin wine is completely different from mixing a thick food sauce. We cater to your specific needs by matching the tank with the ideal motor torque and impeller shape—whether you need gentle blending with a propeller or high-speed dispersion. We can make it all.
What specific products and media can your mixing tanks handle?
Our mixing tanks are highly adaptable and can be custom-engineered to handle a vast range of viscosities, textures, and chemical properties based on your precise application. Here are just a few of the media currently being processed in our custom mixers:
Beverages & Wine: Grape must, fruit distillates, and kombucha.
Food & Dairy: Yogurt, kefir, cream, cooking cream, dates, tomatoes (sauces/pastes), mustard, and raw honey.
Confectionery: Liquid chocolate, cookie creams, and thick chocolate spreads.
Industrial & Chemical: Emulsions, resins, industrial glues, and both 1-component and 2-component paints.
Whether you need gentle stirring to preserve delicate dairy cultures or heavy-duty, high-torque agitation to homogenize dense chocolate spreads or thick industrial resins, we match the tank’s motor, impeller shape, and geometry to guarantee a perfect result.
When should I choose the "Scraped-Surface Mixer" (Scraper) option?
Scraped-surface agitators are essential for highly viscous, sticky, or heat-sensitive products like thick chocolate spreads, resins, cooking creams, honey, and industrial glues. When mixing these thick substances in a jacketed tank, the product right against the wall can burn (if heating) or solidify and create an insulating layer (if cooling). Our scraper system uses food-safe blades that continuously scrape the inner wall of the tank. This eliminates product waste, prevents “burn-on,” and dramatically increases the speed and efficiency of thermal heat transfer.
Can these tanks be used as heating or cooling vessels?
Yes, upon request. While the standard model is focused on mobile mixing, we can easily add a large, dimpled jacket to the coat for temperature-sensitive products. This allows you to heat or cool your product while it is being actively agitated.
